JUDGING CRITERIA.
THE HUMANS.
First and foremost, this film festival is about celebrating the creative talents of human storytellers.
The judges will look to award the power of original story telling, not simply the emerging capabilities of Gen AI.
To keep the entries focused, all submissions are to take inspiration from the festival theme: Humans And Their Tools.
How that story is told — narrative, story arc, message, genre, characters, styling, craft — is entirely up to the creators, the humans.
TECHNICAL CRITERIA.
THE TOOLS.
Unlike other film festivals, no production element is be shot or created using traditional tools, such as cameras, sets, or non-AI VFX tools.
Submissions are to use Gen AI for all visuals and moving image, VFX, images for prompts, audio, SFX, music, voices and animation.
The mix of Gen AI tools used is at the discretion of the creators.
The use of traditional editing software, such as Premier, may be used to compile the final edit for submission.
CATEGORIES
Each film is to be inspired by the theme: Humans And Their Tools.
Best Short Film – Under 3 minutes
Best Long Film – 3 to 15 minutes
Best Student Film – Under 3 minutes
One outstanding film will be crowned the Grand Prix winner.
PRIZE POOL: $15,OOO
Open to all Australian-based creators.
Submissions open July 2025.
DOCUMENTING
THE PROCESS
Along the journey, all Creators and entrants are encouraged to document key parts of their process.
All entrants will be asked to share the Gen AI tools they used and some of their prompts.
In the spirit of meaningful conversation and learning, winners may be asked to share some challenges encountered, and exciting possibilities uncovered.
